Random Thoughts: The Election Wrap-Up Edition.

  • I was tired this morning, but it was the kind of tired that it’s worth fighting through to wake up and smile about the amazing job our country did.  Re-elected Obama.  Elected the first openly gay senator.  Elected the first female combat-wounded veteran.  A historic 19 women will go to work in the U.S. Senate this January.  Gay marriage protected and supported by voters all over the country.  I mean…it’s just amazing.  We lost a few things locally, but I’m proud as hell nationally.
  • I almost felt bad for watching Obama’s speech last night on my computer at work when my boss walked in except he’s now watching it in his office.  People don’t have time to stay up for that.  I tried.  And then promptly fell asleep when he came on TV.
  • The best part of all of this?  Four more years of that funky white boy Joe Biden.
  • The second best part of this?  Watching Karl Rove melt down on Fox News and having to get schooled by his fellow Fox News workers that the election was, in fact, over.  That’s funny…remember in 2000 when he got mad that Al Gore didn’t want to concede once Florida was in question?  Didn’t he call him names for that?  And now look who is all sour grapes.

  • Spencer the Cat, gay as the day is long, was very concerned about all of the gay marriage proposals.  He seemed relieved this morning.  Of course, he was looking for food.

  • I can’t wait until the next presidential election when I’ll have two young girls to take to the polls with me.  I remember going to the polls with my parents as a child.  It was, as Joe Biden would say, a big fucking deal.
  •  And, yes, there will be ice cream involved.  Duh.

What’s on your mind today?  How do you feel about the election?
