Random Thoughts: The Election Wrap-Up Edition.

  • I was tired this morning, but it was the kind of tired that it’s worth fighting through to wake up and smile about the amazing job our country did.  Re-elected Obama.  Elected the first openly gay senator.  Elected the first female combat-wounded veteran.  A historic 19 women will go to work in the U.S. Senate this January.  Gay marriage protected and supported by voters all over the country.  I mean…it’s just amazing.  We lost a few things locally, but I’m proud as hell nationally.
  • I almost felt bad for watching Obama’s speech last night on my computer at work when my boss walked in except he’s now watching it in his office.  People don’t have time to stay up for that.  I tried.  And then promptly fell asleep when he came on TV.
  • The best part of all of this?  Four more years of that funky white boy Joe Biden.
  • The second best part of this?  Watching Karl Rove melt down on Fox News and having to get schooled by his fellow Fox News workers that the election was, in fact, over.  That’s funny…remember in 2000 when he got mad that Al Gore didn’t want to concede once Florida was in question?  Didn’t he call him names for that?  And now look who is all sour grapes.
  • Spencer the Cat, gay as the day is long, was very concerned about all of the gay marriage proposals.  He seemed relieved this morning.  Of course, he was looking for food.

  • I can’t wait until the next presidential election when I’ll have two young girls to take to the polls with me.  I remember going to the polls with my parents as a child.  It was, as Joe Biden would say, a big fucking deal.
  •  And, yes, there will be ice cream involved.  Duh.

What’s on your mind today?  How do you feel about the election?

Like I texted you this morning, Husband is going full-on Democrat. I couldn’t be prouder. I was beaming last night when he suggested we turn on Fox News because they were probably on “suicide watch” as he giggled maniacally. IT WAS DELIGHTFUL.

I think I have a crush on that grey fox, Joe Biden. Dr. Jill is one lucky kitten.

I also was proud of this country even though some of my FB “friends” are very small-minded dickbags. Speaking of dickbags, Howard Stern had a Mitt Romney impersonator on the radio this morning and it was HIGH-LARIOUS. It was funny to hear someone say “Motherfuckers!” in Mitten’s voice. It made my morning.

Dr. Jill is lucky as hell. She knows it, too.

I didn’t watch any election coverage last night (due to no cable/live TV) so I found out this morning that Obama was re-elected and that Proposal 6 got defeated. That made me a happy voter.

It really was a beautiful night, wasn’t it? There were a few propositions that didn’t go the way I would like, but hey. I’m not complaining.

Don't just sit there...say something.
